The Cruiseships AIDAVita, AIDAaura and Arosa Blu of the German Seetours Cruises are equipped with each 6 MPEG-2@Disk unit and 80 GB Hard Disks.
The 6 MPEG-2@Disk onboard this Cruiseliners are controlled by a windows PC with DRS2006 Scheduling Software. The Seetours Cruises has chosen the MPEG-2@Disk because of the ease of use, the solid construction and because of its embedded technolgy that allows secure Video Playout during the overseas cruises.

Broadcast Application & References:

The most common use of the MPEG-2@Disk is the replacement of Tapemachines in Broadcast Applications.Hundreds of customer are using the MPEG-2@Disk for scheduled Playback of prerecorded Video Tracks. The MPEG-2@Disk uses IDE Hard Drives with 40/60/80 or even 120 GB storage capacity, so you can play a 24 h program with just one MPEG-2@Disk.
The MPEG-2@Disk comes with a RS 232 Control Interface that allows to control all the functions by a PC or a Event Controller like the Leigthronix TCP/IP. http://www.leightronix.com/products.htm#tcd

Industrial Applications & References:

The leading manufacturer of Sewer Inspection Systems, the German IBAK GmbH uses the MPEG-2@Disk in Sewer Inspection Vans, to do a real time MPEG-2 encoding of the inspection videos. The IBAK GmbH has chosen the MPEG-2@Disk because of the easy system integration by RS 232 Interface and the flexible Command structure provided by COMO. More MPEG-2@Disk are used by Daimler Chrysler, AGFA and Airbus Industries for Quality Control Applications in Long Time Recording Mode.

Museum Application & References:

The Museum Cité de las musique in Paris has chosen the MPEG-2@Disk as Video Players. 18 units are installed in a Central Playout Station to play Video on severals TFT Display and Video Projectors. The Reason to choose the MPEG-2@Disk against competive products was the ease of use in the recording and the Playlist features which is build in the unit itself.
